The theme for this year's parade is "Celebrating 60 years of Christmas Parade Memories". The parade will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 10 a.m. on the Concord Heights. The units will be forming at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot at Hazen Drive. The parade participants will proceed to Loudon Road and march east to the Steeplegate Mall where it will disband in the parking lot. The rain date for the parade will be Sunday, November 20 at 2 p.m. <br />This is Dick Patten's 40th year as chairman and is retiring. James Cusano is the new chairman and assisting Dick this year. Please contact Dick at 496-2917 or James at 568-7484. Donations are needed to help pay for the parade. The organizers need to raise $6,000 to pay for bands, awards, and police coverage. <br /><br /><br />The planning for the 25th annual Concord Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration is underway. Dick Patten is planning this annual event to be held Friday, November 25 from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be events held throughout the afternoon starting at Red River Theater with a holiday movie at 12:30 p.m. to Santa reading to boys and girls at 2 p.m. at Gibson's Book Store. There will be musicians strolling along North Main Street. There will be a animal petting zoo on the state house lawn at 3 p.m.; horse wagon rides at 3:30 p.m. music by Brian Waldron Band at 4 p.m. at the State House Plaza; special Tree Lighting in Eagle Square for members of the Armed Forces who won't be home at Christmas.
